and Design
The Museum of Performance and Design will establish in San Francisco
the first international arts institution devoted to the celebration of
the performing arts and theatrical design.
The artistic vision will capture and deepen our appreciation of the many
performing arts and their rich contributions to our cultural heritage.
This will be accomplished in a state-of-the-art facility featuring interactive
displays and world-class presentations of extraordinary materials. The
Museum will produce a variety of exhibitions that showcase outstanding
artists, stunning costumes, innovative set designs, and rare items from
the Museum’s extensive collection of almost 3 million items.
